How does DegenPhone compare with a Fragment +888 number?
DegenPhone costs less: mint from 150 GRAM, against over 2 500 GRAM for the cheapest fixed-price +888 number on Fragment. Its numbers also receive SMS codes from many services. A Fragment +888 number only logs in to Telegram, but it has no time limit and lets you keep your current Telegram account and pick the exact digits. Telegram released its +888 numbers, often called anonymous numbers, on Fragment in 2022. Prices are in GRAM (formerly Toncoin), the TON network's coin.
| DegenPhone +372 number | Fragment +888 number | |
|---|---|---|
| Price | Mint from 150 GRAM. The mint creates your NFT, and the app shows the final price before you pay | Over 2 500 GRAM for the cheapest fixed price (not auction) |
| What you get | A real Estonian +372 mobile number, kept as an NFT in your TON wallet. SMS only for now. Calls may come later | A +888 "collectible number" (Fragment's name for it) for Telegram, kept as an NFT in your TON wallet. No calls |
| Works outside Telegram | Yes. It receives SMS codes from WhatsApp, Revolut, Instagram, Amazon, Meta (Facebook), PayPal, crypto exchanges and more | No. Fragment says +888 numbers work only on Telegram, unless another service chooses to support them |
| Receives SMS | Yes, from any app or person, in your chat with @DegenPhoneTonBot | No. Telegram login codes appear on the Fragment website, not by SMS |
| Network type | Estonian mobile network | No mobile network and no SIM. Virtual numbers released by Telegram on TON |
| How you buy | Roll for a random number. Mint the one you like within 15 minutes, or roll again. Or buy an exact number on the DegenPhone Market, where owners set the price | From another user on Fragment, at a fixed price or by auction |
| Ownership and resale | NFT on TON. Sell it on the DegenPhone Market for a 5% fee on each sale, or send it to any TON wallet | NFT on TON. Resell it on Fragment, with a 5% platform fee on each sale |
| Prepaid | 2 years prepaid, with no monthly fee | Fragment lists no time limit |
| Telegram sign-up and Premium | Best for a new Telegram account, made in the official app on your phone, on Wi-Fi. Desktop and web versions often do not send the SMS. Changing the number on an existing account usually fails. Telegram may ask you to buy a week of Premium, about $1. That is Telegram's rule, not DegenPhone's | Works with a new or existing account. Fragment's About page does not mention Premium for sign-up |
| Risks | No SIM: your SMS reach you only through DegenPhone, in your chat with @DegenPhoneTonBot and in My Numbers, so you rely on DegenPhone to deliver them. Rolled numbers are always Fresh, never activated on DegenPhone. A Recycled number was activated before. If you buy one on the DegenPhone Market, it may still have the previous owner's Telegram account on it, so buy Fresh. If you lose your wallet, you lose the number | In January 2025, one user reported +888 numbers that were blocked for spam. If you lose your wallet, Fragment cannot restore it |
DegenPhone numbers are resold too. See the current listings on the DegenPhone Market.

Before you sell or send the NFT, change the phone number on every account that uses this number. A Two-Step Verification password alone does not stop someone with the login code from deleting your account.
